Addicted to Blogging?

I was reading A Step at a Time's blog and thought this subject was pretty cool.

This "Addicted to Blogging" topic really had me thinking, so of course I had to go and google on the subject.

I found Ann Handley and I liked her (as well as her co-writer David Armano) list of  "Top 10 Signs You Might Be Addicted to Blogging":

10. You check your blog stats a LOT. You occasionally get up in the middle of the night and sneak a peak.

9. Your significant other suspects you are having an affair with your blog. Even when you’re alone with your special person, you do find yourself thinking what your blog might be doing right then…

8. You “mental blog” while driving or on the train, and sometimes even when you are alone in the shower.

7. You filter everything through your post-writing. You can’t watch a movie, see a play, read an article, or share a sweet moment with your child without thinking of whether it’s blog-worthy.

6. You suffer from “blog envy” when another blogger posts something juicy before you do. You suffer “comment envy” when said post gets 40-something comments – the jerk!

5. You “binge blog” 3 or 4 posts at once—only to feel guilty and empty afterward.

4. You ditched all your real friends for blog friends, because, well, “they understand.” You bypass Bowling Alone at the bookstore (who really cares?) while you reach for Naked Conversations.

3. You think, “I can stop at any time.”

2. Your lunch hour has become your “blog hour.” You keep a few posts tucked in your desk in case you need them during the day.

1. After 5 minutes of meeting someone really interesting you ask, “So - do you blog?”

I looked the list over and thankfully I'm not even close to being addicted.

10. You check your blog stats a LOT. You occasionally get up in the middle of the night and sneak a peak.  If I look at my 'stats' once a month I'm lucky.  I blog strictly for my own pleasure so if the 'stats' counter said O every single day, it wouldn't bother me in the least.

9. Your significant other suspects you are having an affair with your blog. Even when you’re alone with your special person, you do find yourself thinking what your blog might be doing right then…My hubby would never think I'm having an affair....period....end of story.

8. You “mental blog” while driving or on the train, and sometimes even when you are alone in the shower.  I think of things only when I'm sitting here, otherwise I don't think about it.

7. You filter everything through your post-writing. You can’t watch a movie, see a play, read an article, or share a sweet moment with your child without thinking of whether it’s blog-worthy.  Ok now THAT's funny!  And a true blogger no doubt.  I have to wonder if the more serious (ok obsessed) bloggers are the ones trying to make a living through their blogs?

6. You suffer from “blog envy” when another blogger posts something juicy before you do. You suffer “comment envy” when said post gets 40-something comments – the jerk!  Oh ya, I'm envious that "a step at a time" thought of this subject first.  Not!  I think it's a cool subject and I'm glad she thought of it first.  Quite frankly I'm glad a friend told me about another blog which led me to a step at a time and so on and so on.  I have travelled all over the world, one blog at a time.  Leave a comment, don't leave a comment, it makes no never mind to me.

5. You “binge blog” 3 or 4 posts at once—only to feel guilty and empty afterward.  If I'm writing like I am right now and think of something else in the process, I will definitely start a draft on another entry.  I've never 'emptied' so far.

4. You ditched all your real friends for blog friends, because, well, “they understand.” You bypass Bowling Alone at the bookstore (who really cares?) while you reach for Naked ConversationsLOL  Another funny one!  My list of 'blog' friends is growing but I don't think I'll be ditching any real friends soon.  Except for maybe four, but they were nasty so they don't count :o)  Now......let me go look up this Naked Conversations thing.

3. You think, “I can stop at any time.”  Oh I can stop alright.........se........

2. Your lunch hour has become your “blog hour.” You keep a few posts tucked in your desk in case you need them during the day.  I tend to blog very late at night or first thing in the morning.

1. After 5 minutes of meeting someone really interesting you ask, “So - do you blog?”  I've never even THOUGHT of asking anyone that!
