Fun Monday #1

Updated to read:  Forget the below drivel and head on over to Willow Tree to see all the participants in Fun Monday.  I enjoyed this so much I made up a new category for it.

You ever feel you're losing a little piece of your mind?  Well I do almost daily.  Some days I'm so good and then others, this memory of mine just doesn't allow me a moment's peace.  The problem?  I joined a Fun Monday.  I wrote down what I was supposed to take a picture of:  Favorite coffee mug - Favorite glasses for non-alcoholic drink and alcoholic drink and extra credit is given if you show your favorite plate.

I have all my favorites, but the one thing I forgot was to write down the link to where I first saw it.  Good grief I suck.  So the only thing I can hope for is someone from Fun Monday will actually stop by my little blog, comment, and I can then follow them and get the link and give credit to the person who started the Fun Monday.

Favorite_mug

First is your favorite coffee mug.  This was very tough for me because I probably have three mugs that are my favorite.  My newest favorite coffee mug however, is the above.  This was given to me by an incredibly special lady and I swear the mug could look like it had warts all over it and it would be special to me.  As it is, no warts here, it's bright and cheery and fun and cool.....and oh so true.

Favorite_non_and_alcoholic_glass

Next we were to show our favorite glasses for non-alcoholic drinks and then a picture of our favorite glasses for alcoholic drinks.  This is a double whammy for me because the above glasses are my favorite glasses for both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.  They aren't our everyday glasses but I love them and use them as much as possible for any drink I happen to be having.

Favorite_plate

Since I didn't show two different pictures for glasses I thought I'd do the 'extra credit' picture and show a picture of my favorite plate.  I collect pink depression glass and it is not easy to find.  Or at least it's not easy to find pieces in fine shape.  The above pink depression plate is special because I bought a gorgeous almost impossible to find pink depression bowl and when I went to pick it up, the gentleman put this plate in with the bowl.  He was an old man who couldn't get around very well and it was a thank you for me driving the two hours to go pick the bowl up from him and saving him the time and hassle of wrapping it up and making his way to the post office.  I told him I would have driven to china to get the bowl but he was grateful and I accepted his fine gift.  So the plate might not be much to look at to most people, but the meaning behind the plate means the world to me.

Very pretty glasses. I think I would be afraid to use them...
I also love pink depression glass although I have very few pieces.

Happy belated mother's day, Joy! HOpe you had a great one!

Isn't it nice to drink out of the special glasses! At supper yesterday my kids had their Iced Tea in my favorite crystal - when I asked them what was up they smiled and said 'It's a special day mom'....well I couldn't argue with them on that.

There is definitely something to be said for using the good stuff instead of stuffing it away for special occasions - and I think the beverage tastes better too!

Did you get to go to the place for Mother's Day?

What a nice gift to receive!!!

and Fun Monday was kind of a brainstorm idea b/n Willowtree and Vicki Both wanted to be a bit nosy and see outside of people's homes....so the very first one was us posting pictures of our front door views - and then somehow the next week it was called Fun Monday (by Eric). The rest is history.

Love the mug. The message is so true. Awesome plate too.

I've never heard of pink depression glass before and I love the story as to how you got given the plate.

I love the mug and I would be afraid to use such lovely glasses every-day. The story of how you came by the plate is fascinating.

I think the plate is beautiful...

Love the pretty glasses. Sadly I would break them. That's why it's plastic or nothing at my house.

Joy, your photos are great as usual. I have a special request though...can I please (pretty please) see a photo of your set of dishes that you use for eating off of? I have seen so many photos of great looking food on some cool looking dishes, but have never gotten to see much of the actual dish. If my memory serves me correctly, it was a greenish ceramic looking set that caught my eye. By now you have a weird look on your face and you're probably thinking...ya whatever, what a nut, she wants to see my dishes! But do it just for me when you have a chance, would ya?! Thanks!

Your coffee cup looks cool!Nice pictures of your glasses. They are really nice!

I have a few pieces of pink depression glass. They were gifts to my mother and I've never been sure what to do with them. They're pretty nonetheless! Great post! I loved the story behind the plate. And I so covet that mug! ;)

Love the mug Joy! But where's your 12 of 12? I looked all weekend.

I love the plate and your heart-warming story. Your glasses are beautiful. They would last about fifteen minutes at our house.

That mug looks cool - like a double decker mug!

I think anything would taste better out of those glasses. Quite a few of my plates have pink depression, but they are working through their issues.

Cool plate:o) Dh's grandma collects the blue depression glass.

Love the plate and the story behind it and as for not using your good glasses everyday. Why don't you?? You never know what tomorrow will bring so use the good stuff!!! LOL

LOVE your coffee mug! Definitely agree with the sentiment! I'll have to give this Fun Monday thing a try!

Nothing makes a drink taste better than if it is contained in a nice piece of crystal. Beautiful!

Luv the mug...the depression glass if gorgeous...

Hope you had a great Mother's Day!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! How cool is this? My mother-in-law collects THAT PATTERN of pink depression glass!! It's called Mayfair; an alternate name is either "Open Rose" or "Cabbage Rose" (I can't remember at the moment). She has goblets in two sizes, plates in two sizes, cups, saucers, a pitcher and serving bowls. We use it for our Valentine Tea (that I wrote about I guess in February...). It got my attention immediately!

But......oh, my, so did your mug! I'd love to see your others (since you have 3 faves), but this one is FABULOUS! I love fun mugs and this is one of the "best" ones I've seen around Fun Monday. And who couldn't love your glasses...

Love your taste :) and glad you decided to join this "crowd"!
