We Want You! To Swap.

I thought I would say something about the newest button on my sidebar for all who noticed and have written asking what it is but don't bother to click on said button to follow where you're supposed too so you can read for yourself what said button is.  Phew!  That?  Was a long sentence.

Below will tell you all about the Tax Relief Swap and I copy and pasted it from Anglophile Football Fanatic.  And yes I know you see red, white and blue on that button but this is open to everyone so that's why I joined.  That and I am a swap fiend.

April 15 has long suffered under the yoke our government has placed upon it.  Uncle Sam decided this is the day he wanted to remove your every last farthing (or for the lucky of us, redeposit some of our own hard earned money) and stick it into his grubby pockets.  No more!

DC Days and Anglophile Football Fanatic have decided we shall celebrate April 15th with a swap.  Spend some of that lovely refund, or spend a little bit more as you wallow in your carmel sweetend cup of java and murmer endearing swear words at the little IRS man.

We will have dual Mr. Linkys on both of our sites from March 1-30.  On April 1 (April Fools!), we will announce the swap partners.  Take a week or so to read and learn about your fellow blogger.  Then, using your knowledge, make Tax Day bright again with a care package.

Although this is tax day for the US, we are opening up to anybody who wants to participate.  If you are not willing to ship to our friends across big ponds, please leave a comment after you sign Mr Linky - this Mr. Linky works for both sites…if you sign up at one, you sign up at the other.  Try to spend about $25 on this.  Let’s have fun & give April 15th a positive connotation! Take the badge & display it with pride, and please feel free to do a post about it.  Cause We Want You to Swap.

Here are a few questions to ponder:

  1. If you are getting a refund this year, where is the money going?  If you can only wish that would happen, what would you get if you were?  (Joy's answer:  AAAAAHAHAHAHA we haven't seen a refund in so many years I couldn't even remember the date.  So in my dream I would get.....a new camera of course.)
  2. What is your favorite non-traditional holiday? (Joy's answer:  Uhhhh....take your sweater for a walk day???)
  3. If we all got Tax Day off (Massachusetts does as Patriot’s Day), how would you spend it?  (Joy's answer:  Holed up in a luxurious hotel with room service on speed dial and having nothing but silence to listen to.  I would have my laptop on hand in case I wanted to write something inspirational.  Well that and to tell you I was jumping on the bed in the luxurious hotel I'm staying at.)
  4. If you had the ability to dictate where your tax money went where would you have yours go?  (Joy's answer:  Stop all child abuse and save every tortured animal.)

That sounds like a lovely idea, but I will have pass this time. Maybe we can do something like this another time. Hope yall have fun!

Yeh. I don't think people in UK ever get money back from Inland Revenue (they're like the IRS). Nope. Here? It's just bend over Charlie and take it like a man - and btw, we're raising taxes on beer, cider, spirits effective pretty much immediately, and petrol/gas goes up in October. (Incidentally? We pay WELL over 8 dollars per gallon -- and it WILL go up in Oct).

I never dreamed I would miss those refund checks (translation: dealing with the IRS).

I can't wait to come 'home' (TX) this summer. I'm so excited that I will be able to buy gas for less than 8 bucks a gallon.

Sounds like a fun thing to do, but I will have to wait until a less busy time. Spring is simply crazy around here. I look forward to June and moreso, July. Your answer to #4 is great.

As TLG says we never get refunds and from April they are actually going to tax me more because I'm not quite old enough to get the next band of allowances. I'm actually worse off than when I retired!!

Thanks for spreading the love, Joy! I'm so glad you decided to join Alix & I in this one.

I'm in there too. :) Just signed up a little bit ago. :)

Sounds like a fun idea. Last year I got less than $100 and Dawn got more....mostly because of her Avon business.
