I Love Quotes and Contests
A few weeks ago I received an email saying a quote in my blog was going to be used in a new blog called Blogtations. I was curious because I don't ever recall having the wisdom to make up a quote. I mean I love quotes, I've been collecting quotes since I was probably 17 years old. But I have never said anything remotely close to what I thought would be quote worthy. I'm not famous...and quoted...like the great Maya Angelou, I'm not dead...and quoted...like the great Gandhi, I'm not even a comedien...to be quoted...like my favorite man of all time George Burns.
But it turns out anyone can be quoted. Even the likes of me. And now you. Bloggers of the world are being quoted and I'm here to tell you I have spent hours on this blog reading, what I personally think, are some of the greatest quotes of all time. One being.... If it weren't for this blog all of my best material would be wasted on people who don't appreciate how hilarious I think I am. ~ Sarah and the Goon Squad
Blogtations is having their very first contest. A Mother's Day Quote Contest and you are invited to enter a quote. Don't think for a minute you aren't quote worthy because I read a lot of you daily and I assure you you are quote worthy! I leave you with the contest rules.....
RULES and STUFF
- You don't have to be a mom to enter. The quote just needs to be about motherhood in some way.
- You may submit only one quote. Other quotes sent won't be considered for the contest (though, they might be considered for regular featuring).
- The quote must be written by you and published on your blog (and not already featured or in the queue to be featured on Blogtations).
- Email me the quote, the permalink of the post it comes from, and please include "contest" in your email's subject title.
- By submitting your quote you give permission to have it posted on Blogtations, either when the winner is announced or possibly at a later date (with credit and a link to your blog, of course).
- The deadline is May 2, 2008, midnight EST.
- The winning quote and runners up will be determined by a lovely panel of judges: Joy, Heidi, Colleen, Carrie, and Britt (who've been exchanging cocktail recipes, but I promise they'll be sober for the judging)
- The winner will be announced May 9, 2008, will receive a $25 Amazon gift certificate and will be highlighted on Blogtations.
- Runners up quotes will be posted, too. Others may follow at a later time.
Okay, that's it. Now, go forth and comb your blogs for your best mom quote!
Also, none of this: "I don't think I have any quotes on my blog." I've had a number of bloggers say that to me then I read a month or two of their archives and guess who's featured on Blogtations? Great quotes can take some digging for, because we usually write in context. Stand alone quotes aren't always that common.
So, be patient. Enjoy reading your past posts and send me your best quote about motherhood when you find it!
Good luck!

Not a bad quote - turn left when you think you should turn right. heh
I suppose any sentence one writes could be considered a quote.

That looks like a lot of fun. I love the one you featured here. Debbie could probably relate to your quote (re-accident). I think I will have a look around in my posts. Not like I am not wordy.

I think my comment quotes are probably a better source for this contest. But, heck, how do I know where I left them?

I must agree with Pamela on this one....God knows where I might have left a good comment!! This assignment will take some work! Congratulations on the judging!!

Just look in your blog and those quotes are there. Find a funny sentence and that would be a quote. Or find a serious sentence and that would be a quote too.
Don't leave something from a comment you left in a blog in your travels. The 'quote' is to come from your blog.

I have a website rather than a blog which makes me ineligible for the contest. So, instead, I’ll ask if anyone here can tell me who originated one of my favorite quotations, “You’re so right, Carl”?
Since I believe most of you who read and comment on this blog are far removed from where this quote originated it’s only fair that I give a few clues. This man was born in Selma, Alabama in 1910 and died in 1980. He coached two sports at a major university at times, as well as coaching at another university. One of his teams won a national championship and he coached a Heisman Trophy winner. He’s been selected to at least 3 Hall(s) of Fame. Among those he coached was a future two-term governor of Alabama. He was best known by the nickname he was given while still a child because of his love for sugar cane. Today, the stadium of the university where he coached longest bears his name. During World War II, he saw significant action in North Africa and Sicily before being wounded in the invasion of Normandy and receiving a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He continued in action in the Pacific theater after recovering.

Isn't it weird the places that pick up our stuff? Now that I don't have wordpress I can't see where my stuff is ending up. Unless someone knows how to see that here in blogger.
