Because Thursdays are 'Before & After' day here at A Spot of T and because the office isn't even close to being done, I thought I would show some 'before' pictures of the Garden Bench Kelsey made me. That's right, my oldest daughter made me a garden bench.
The story goes that "I", "me", "Joy" should have made the Garden Bench, but "I", "me", "Joy", "ScaredyPantsMcGee" here chickened out about a week before the workshop was to begin. I happened to mention this to Kelsey and to my surprise she said "Cool. I'll take the class if you want. I think it would be fun to make a garden bench."
So she took the all day workshop and when I say all day I mean all day. I would know this because I felt so guilty about not taking the workshop that I met Kelsey at lunch time and took her out for a quick bite. Then because the bench was too big for her car, I hung around until the end of the class to help her carry it out and put it in the back of my Sequoia. Because after taking all day out of her already incredibly busy schedule? She gave me the garden bench. *squeal*
I read an entire book while I waited for the workshop to end and quite frankly? I need to take more time like that to read. Ok maybe not in a parking lot but you know what I mean. Although believe it or not the quietness of the parking lot, combined with the sun beating down through the sun roof of the vehicle was the perfect atmosphere to read. Well that and taking time to watch people coming and going out of an apartment building across the road. As well as watch the people coming and going out of the alcohol treatment center on the other side of the road. Trés interesting to say the least and it sure made the time go fast. Man I love people watching.
So here we go....photos courtesy of the workshop...and touched up a bit with the help of picnik. My girl Kelsey, taking a workshop on how to make a garden bench....
Next week I will show you the completed bench. I would show you the finished bench now, but I was the one who was supposed to stain it and well, er, I haven't stained it yet. I did, however, purchase the stain yesterday and will be applying the first coat today sometime. I will also write about the facility who put on this great workshop and hopefully I can get Kelsey to write a bit about the class itself.
